Introduction

The developer of Koroai (the “App”) (“we,” “us,” or “our”) establishes this Privacy Policy to explain how information is handled in connection with the App.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to information handled through use of the App. External websites and services are governed by the privacy policies of their respective operators.

2. Information Stored on the Device

The following information entered or selected by the user is generally stored locally on the user’s device:

  • Item names and item settings
  • Record dates
  • Comments and notes
  • Information about photos associated by the user
  • Notification, language, sorting, and other App settings
  • Backup data created by the user

The contents of this information are not sent to PostHog for usage analytics. If the user exports, shares, or restores a backup, the storage or sharing service selected by the user may process that data under its own terms and privacy policy.

3. Information Collected for Usage Analytics

The App automatically collects the following information through PostHog to understand and improve App usage:

  • Randomly generated anonymous identifiers and session identifiers
  • First launch, launch, reactivation, and transition to the background
  • Screen views using predefined category names
  • Onboarding start, progress, completion, or skip
  • Whether item setup, creation, update, or deletion occurred
  • Whether a record was created, updated, deleted, or had a note added
  • Notification prompts, permission results, notification settings, and launches from notifications
  • App version and build number
  • Operating system name and version, device type, and language or locale
  • Date and time when an event occurred

Anonymous identifiers are used to analyze continued usage on the same device or installation. We do not associate these identifiers with names, email addresses, or other direct identity information.

4. Information Not Sent to the Analytics Service

The App is designed not to send the following information to PostHog:

  • Item names
  • Comment or note contents
  • Photos, photo URIs, or photo asset IDs
  • Item IDs or record IDs
  • Exact dates to which records relate
  • Notification contents
  • Deep-link URLs or dynamic screen URLs
  • Names, email addresses, or telephone numbers
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Text from touched interface elements or view hierarchy data
  • Session replays
  • Location inferred through GeoIP enrichment

GeoIP enrichment is disabled. However, due to the nature of internet communications, PostHog and its infrastructure providers may temporarily process IP addresses to transmit requests, maintain security, or prevent abuse.

5. Purposes of Use

Analytics information is used only for the following purposes:

  • Understanding App usage and retention
  • Analyzing where users leave onboarding or key feature flows
  • Improving features, usability, and quality
  • Investigating usage trends and issues by App or operating system version

We do not use analytics information for third-party advertising, advertising measurement, disclosure to data brokers, or tracking across apps or websites owned by other companies.

6. Third-Party Service and International Processing

The App uses PostHog for usage analytics. Analytics information is transmitted to and processed through PostHog’s US cloud region on our behalf and according to our instructions. PostHog may use infrastructure providers and other subprocessors as necessary to operate its services.

7. Retention

We generally retain analytics information for no longer than 12 months from the date of collection, after which it is deleted or anonymized. We may retain information longer when reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, maintain security, or prevent abuse.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect collected information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss, including limiting transmitted fields, encrypting data in transit, and restricting administrative access. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Opt-Out and Data Requests

The App currently begins usage analytics automatically after launch. To stop future transmission, discontinue use of the App and remove it from the device.

Users may contact us to request access to, deletion of, or other action concerning analytics information. Because analytics information is associated only with anonymous identifiers and is not linked to names or email addresses, we may not always be able to reasonably identify the information associated with a particular requester. We will respond reasonably where the relevant information can be identified.

10. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect children’s names, email addresses, or other direct identity information through the App. A parent or guardian who believes that information concerning a child has been collected inappropriately may contact us using the contact information above.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Policy in response to changes in laws, services, or information-handling practices. If a material change is made, we will provide notice through the App, the published web page, or another appropriate method, and update the “Last updated” date.
