Introduction

The developer of Gesture Video Player (the “App”) (“we,” “us,” or “our”) establishes this Privacy Policy to explain how information is handled in connection with the App.

1. Camera and Depth Information

With your permission, the App uses your device’s front-facing camera and TrueDepth depth information to enable gesture-based video controls.

Camera images and depth information are processed on your device. They are not recorded, saved to files, or transmitted to external servers. We do not use this information for facial recognition, personal identification, or advertising.

You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device settings. Without permission, gesture controls that use the camera are unavailable.

2. Information Stored on the Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device to improve convenience and provide its features:

  • IDs and titles of recently used YouTube videos (up to three)
  • Settings such as language, keeping the screen awake, and gesture detection duration
  • The number of free gesture controls used

Video URLs entered, pasted, or received through sharing are used to identify and play the relevant video. The App does not continuously monitor clipboard contents.

3. Information Collected for Usage Analytics

The App uses PostHog to understand usage, improve usability, and investigate issues.

The information collected includes:

  • App launches, actions to open videos, and playback starts
  • Camera startup results, gesture types, success or failure, and processing times
  • Reaching the free usage limit, purchase screen views, and purchase and restoration results
  • Settings changes and errors
  • Device model, operating system and App versions, language, and purchase status
  • Identifiers generated by the analytics SDK

Camera images, depth data, video URLs, and video titles are not sent to PostHog for usage analytics. We do not record the screen for analytics.

For information about PostHog’s handling of information, please review the PostHog Privacy Policy.

4. YouTube Services

The App uses YouTube API Services and an embedded player to play videos and retrieve titles, thumbnails, and related information.

When you use these features, information about the relevant video, your IP address, device and browser information, and playback-related usage information may be transmitted to Google/YouTube. The embedded player may also use cookies and similar technologies.

Google/YouTube’s handling of information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Please also review the YouTube Terms of Service when using YouTube.

5. In-App Purchases

Apple processes payments for in-app purchases. We do not obtain your credit card number or other payment details.

The App uses RevenueCat, a purchase management service, to verify purchases, provide purchased features, and restore purchases. RevenueCat processes purchase history, transaction information, entitlements to purchased features, randomly generated App user IDs, and related information.

For details, please review the Apple Privacy Policy and the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Services and International Processing

The App transmits necessary information to PostHog, Google/YouTube, Apple, and RevenueCat for the purposes described above.

Depending on each service’s infrastructure, transmitted information may be stored and processed on servers outside Japan.

Analytics information is transmitted to and processed through PostHog’s US cloud region on our behalf and according to our instructions. PostHog may use infrastructure providers and other subprocessors as necessary to operate its services.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect collected information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss, including limiting transmitted fields, encrypting data in transit, and restricting administrative access. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Retention and Deletion

History, settings, and usage counts are stored on your device for as long as necessary to provide the App’s features. Deleting the App normally also deletes this App data. However, copies may remain in device backups or similar storage.

We generally retain analytics information for no longer than 12 months from the date of collection, after which it is deleted or anonymized. We may retain information longer when reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, maintain security, or prevent abuse.

Purchase-related information may be retained to provide and restore purchased features, prevent fraud, and meet legal requirements. Deleting the App does not automatically delete information held by external services.

8. User Choices and Data Requests

You can change camera permission in your device settings.

The App currently begins usage analytics automatically after launch. To stop future transmission, discontinue use of the App and remove it from the device.

Please contact us using the contact information below to request explanations, disclosure, correction, deletion, or other action concerning the handling of information. We will respond in accordance with applicable laws. If information is not associated with a name or other identifying details, we may be unable to identify the relevant data and fulfill your request.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Policy in response to changes in laws, services, or information-handling practices. If a material change is made, we will provide notice through the App, the published web page, or another appropriate method, and update the “Last updated” date. Where legally required, we will follow appropriate procedures to notify users or obtain consent.
